Please Twins: Sibling Rivalry, Volume 2 - Review
Studio Summary
If Maiku is a healthy teenage boy, why won't he show any interest in girls, especially when two gorgeous girls are living with him? Could it be that Maiku has interests in the same sex? Well, that's all it takes for Miina and Karen to flaunt their nubile bodies in front of him to test this theory. But they both may be starting to develop feelings for Maiku that may not be appropriate considering that one of them may be his sister.
To prevent this from going any further, Miina and Karen form a 'love alliance' to not make any advances toward Maiku and prevent others from getting too close to him. This alliance will be put to the test when the three of them win a free trip to a tropical island with some unexpected company showing up!

Sexual tension at its finest... well, almost.
Things are getting rougher in the house of Maiku. The un-sibling-like feelings Miina and Karen have for him grow stronger each day. That's bad enough for the pair ... but to make matters worse, there are rumors afoot. Could Maiku be gay? He's always hanging out with that Kousei Shimazaki, and Shimazaki gets a little too close for comfort for any guy. After Miina and Karen see Maiku having a "normal" conversation with three sexy females clad in swimsuits at the pool, they find their fears may be realized! Girls just don't seem to fluster Maiku.
They decide to leap into action by shedding as much clothing is as they can around the house to see if they can get those manly juices flowing. But, as far as they can tell, nothing seems to work. Unbeknownst to them, Poor Maiku has no idea what to do with himself, but he acts with total restraint.
Finally, Miina hatches a scheme at school to make Maiku come around. Unfortunately, it works too well, and things backfire on all of them when Karen and Maiku collapse in a classic Shonen Stumble kiss. It lands all three of them in suspension, giving them lots of time around the house to think about their relationship.
Unable to hold in her feelings any longer, Miina also kisses Maiku. They are all very confused on many levels. Who is the stranger? Who is the relative? The relative can stay in the house as long as she wishes. The stranger would have to leave the house of Maiku, but would be allowed to fall in love with him.
Miina plans an exit strategy, telling Maiku that was all a test to see if he was straight. Although annoyed, he accepts the excuse and confirms he is not gay. Miina and Karen also make a "love alliance" between themselves. An alliance by those that love Maiku.
The love alliance has the following rules:
1. Neither will ask Mr. Maiku out without knowing for sure which of them is the stranger and which is the relative.
2. If you find out you are related to Maiku, you are to inform the other one right away.
3. The relative will support the others romantic relationship with Mr. Maiku.
4. They will get rid of any girls who try to get close to Mr. Maiku ... with brute force if necessary.
5. They will always stay by Mr. Maiku's side.
It's a simple enough plan, if they can hold to it. When the three of them win a weekend getaway to a beach resort in Okinawa, each of them come dangerously close to breaking at least one of the rules. Holding up the bargain may be difficult.
In Please Twins: Sibling Rivalry, the second story arc is well under way. The comedy is still there, but it takes a bit of a back seat to the building drama between the three main characters. Although Maiku is resisting, he too is showing signs of falling for the girls. He keeps reminding himself that one is a relative and he should stay calm, but will it be enough?
There are hits of a dark secret with Miina. We know that Karen lived with her foster parents most of her life, and she loved them very much and was well cared for, but we know nothing of Miina except that she can take care of herself. There were one or two scenes in volume 1 that hinted of a darkness around Miina, and a couple of more in this volume. I expect to see this foreshadowing develop in the next volume.
The minor characters in this volume take on greater significance as they try to snag Maiku for themselves. Both Tsubaki and Shimazaki try their best, but are blocked by the love alliance at every step. They recognize the fact that the girls have fallen for Maiku, but seem powerless against it. The other characters from Please Teacher also have their influence over the couple, except Matagu who has an unhealthy fixation on his own little sister - kinda creepy if you ask me, he has no excuse.
For the most part, I really enjoyed the second story arc and look forward to the next one. It was not as funny as the last disc, but that's OK, the drama in a romantic comedy needs to kick off at some point.
