Well, as I stated in my last post, kids sure can take the life out of hobbies... but the tradeoff it so worth it. I'm going to dust off this site over the next few weeks, writing info on what I have been watching and trying a few new designs.

Things have been stagnant on this site for so long. Ironically, it is getting more hits than ever. Time to capitalize on some new readership.

Kids take note, babies sure can sap any energy out of hobbies.

Anyway, although the site has been dead, I have really been watching a ton of Animation in the last few weeks. I wish I had time to comment on it all at length:

Ah! My Goddess TV: A little slow, but great for fans of the series. The last 2 DVDs pick up the pace a ton and it becomes really fun.

Mabaraho: Strange Harem series, liked some of the characters. Really liked the female character models. Nice. Magic and fanservice, oh my.

Naruto: Through anime fansubs up through the end of the Manga before the 3 year timeshift. Now waiting like everyone else for the series to get back to the Cannon in Japan. No more filler! Also, caught up with the English version on Cartoon network. Took a while but I have taken a liking to the dub.

Bleach: Great new anime Cartoon Network. Good action, lots of blood, interesting characters.

Macross: Love the new ADV Dub. Through Disc 5.

Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU: Just rewatched, lots of fun.

NInja Nonsense: Super Pervy Ninja Insanity. Some real laugh-out-loud moments. Through disc 2.

Ranma 1/2: Old-school pervy ninja insanity. Can only take it in small chunks, gets repetitious, but is good mindless fun. On season 3 now.

Macross Zero: Beautiful animation, a tad bloody... more mystic than I'd like. Horrible Horrible HK sub. Not sure how well it fits in to the overall storyline, a few things that seem out of sequence.

South Park: Loved the World of Warcraft episode.

Initial D: Finished off through Season 4: Project D. Never thought I'd like street racing.

A few other random things in there.

The site needs some real work. I shut down the forums due to Spam, and my email is getting a ton as well. For now this may just be a placeholder till my 5-month old starts sleeping better. For that matter, I could put Pingu, Blues Clues, and Seseme Street on the list of stuff I am watching. Good toddler shows.

Boy how times change.

Hi all, still around... real life and baby still keeping me busy.

Saw a tidbit I could not pass up. Looks like things are full speed ahead for the Dragonlance, Dragons of Autumn TwilightAnimated Film. It's in preproduciton and they have finalized the cast. Ripped from their site.

Casing for the movie has now been completed with Kiefer Sutherland assuming voicing duties for Raistlin Majere. Sutherland is of course best known as Jack Bauer from TV`s "24", however he also has a string of acclaimed movie roles to his credit. Sutherland joins a voice cast which includes Lucy Lawless ("Xena: Warrior Princess") as Goldmoon, Michael Rosenbaum ("Smallville") as Tanis Half-Elven, and Michelle Trachtenberg ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as Tika Waylan, for the animated movie adaptation of "Dragons of Autumn Twilight".

Other significant roles in the film include:

Fred Tatasciore (Flint Fireforge)
Rino Romano (Caramon Majere)
Jason Marsden (Tasslehoff Burrfoot)
Mark Worden (Sturm Brightblade)

I may need to reread these when the time comes... given that like LoTR before it, it's been about 20 years since I have. Man how time flys. When I was a kid, I had all the calanders on my wall for years as artwork. Actually, "Tanis" was my first online name back in the days of BBSes. Yeah, I'm that kind of geek... makes me feel OLD.

Still, I wonder how its going to look. Goldmoon sure was a something in those. -grin-

Hi all. Just been too busy in the last month to post anything. I'll try to do shorter posts even if they don't say much. Been working on my Uncle's business site, so that has taken some of my time. Work has been a major pain, too much stuff going on at once.

Oh, and in case I did not mention it before, I'm expecting Kid #2 in May. Things could be thin here for a while...

So, I'm already converting my kid it seems. Although his favorite cartoons at this point are Pingu, Jay Jay Jet Plane, Thomas the Tank Engine (he's almost 2), the kid seems to dig J-pop. The other day I was giving him a snack and turned on my PC (which now lives in the dining room, since I lost my office to kid #2), and played some Anime theme song music just because I felt like it. I told him that it was in Japanese, which is a different language like Spanish (he understands this because of Sesame Street). Well he was bopping and smiling to the music, I played stuff from both Onagi shows, Ah My Goddess, and FUMMOFU.

Well, I guess it stuck. Later in the week he woke from a nap and ask my wife for "pease pease Japanese!" Mommy told him he had to wait till Daddy got home, and he was really excited when I put it on.

Kids sure are funny.

As for me, in the past month I have watched Ranma 1/2 Season 1 and Trigun. Really liked them both. I also got unexpectedly hooked on a show on a lark. While folding laundry I put On Demand on the TV and came across Inital D. Other than Speed Racer, I have not been much into racing shows, but since I had nothing better to do I threw it on. Well it hooked me pretty good. 3 episodes later and I threw the 14 disc series into my Netflix queue. Waiting to see more.

Speaking of racing shows, I finally got around to IGPX last night. So far it seems pretty good, not groundbreaking by any means ... but its a fun little show.

That's it for now. Like I said, expect short reviews and entries from now on.

No, the site is not dead. Not yet at least.

Holiday recovery seems to have taken longer this year than most. I did finally manage to start watching some animation the last few days. Getting through all the Harry Potter flicks over the break took up a good bit of time.

So what am I watching now?

I watched last weeks episode of Naruto... very disappointing. It was the most butchered one so far. Kakashi and Zabuza continue their fight, and Zabuza's minion dies a horrible death ... not a bad edit there. But then Zabuza loses the use of his arms and they cut out how it happens. In other words, the stab wounds are there but the action is gone. As the series progresses, they are going to have a harder time resolving these types of issues.

I watched some of the original Ah! My Goddess OVA to psych myself up for the new TV show. DVD 1 is at my house and DVD 2 is on the way. I really wish we could get a full remaster of the OVA. It still looks good, but the transfer shows its age. The subtitle style is so clunky it makes it hard to read. I sometimes forget how long things have come in the last few years with DVD authoring. Still, its a great show and I still laugh at all the same places. Can't wait for the new one.

Oh, the first of the new Macross Dub DVD's released this past week. Worth a look for sure.

I'll be posting when I can, will ramp up some over the coming weeks.

"Delays, delays"

There are a few creatures at work stealing my Animaton time lately, thus my inability to get much posted of note.

The first, of course, is work. Things have been pretty busy and my lunchtime updates have all but disappeared.

The second, is DVR burnout. It took me a while to get though all that stuff I had backlogged and I have not been in the mood to pick watch TV much since. I have FUMOFFU 3 opened and on my DVD player, but unwatched. Kinda sad really. I WANT to see the show, but I want to be in the mood for it as well.

The third, is World of Warcraft. I'm not quite "hooked" on the game as I am really impressed. The game has a great pace, very cool graphics, and a great community. It is as close to .hack//SIGN online as you can get. Although not the timeskink Star Wars Galaxies was, it does eat a bit of my free time during the week. Oh, and I discovered PvP last night... that is some evil rush there.

So that's it. Not much to see here, but don't move along. I'll be out of this rut in no-time, and you'll be able to get your fill of Animation Goodness.

Though rewaching all the Harry Potter's in prep for the next movie could be a problem too .... oui!

I have not been posting much lately, but I sure have been watching a ton of anime. For the past 2 weeks, I have continued on a Naruto tear, I've blown through season 2 and am into season 3... this stuff is going to get good for you all. It will take a while for U.S. audiences to catch up, but once you do it will be well worth it.

And speaking of U.S. audiences, I am continuing to give the Naruto dub on Cartoon Network a shot. Fortunately, it has grown on me a bit ... but the edits still bug me. After watching season 2, I can say the edits will only get worse. Season 2 has a fair amount of blood, a hell of a lot more than season 1 ... so it's going to be diced to all hell. I did get some good news on this, I found out that Vis will be releasing this uncut on DVD, so purists should be happy with this news - me included.

I finally finished Chobits last night, so expect a full review soon. In the end it was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it greatly. Nothing like cute robots to finish off an evening.

The DVR is full, so I need to watch my backlogged Batman, JLU, Teen Titans, and Family Guy. Too much animation, too little time!
